MD: LOL! Puta ka, if you become some snooty fashion editor, I'm going to kick your ass.

MIA

Sorry. Fashion Week has just ended and I'm seriously drained. The weekend shows were the worst where we had to watch straight from 1 to 10pm. Of course there were breaks in between but I think the most annoying part is the waiting and the neverending loop of sponsors. I swear if I hear the song Womanizer one more time I'm going to scream. Much as I would like to upload new stuff, it would have to wait till I'm done with deadlines. Working on the reviews for fashion week, coming out in my Manila Bulletin column this Friday. Cheerio.

RALPH NG

Three shows last night at the opening of fashion week, I went to the last one which was slated at 930pm. But of course it didnt start on time. If I went to the first two shows I'd be hungry as hell already. Theres a running joke among friends that the designers in the last shows will bear the brunt of bad reviews because the press will be cranky. Ralph Ng at least made the wait worthwhile. Though his designs are not really groundbreaking, its still very pretty clothes thats trend led, wearable and embodies a very Japanes aesthetic that recalls Junya Watanabe and Yohji Yamamoto. It also reminds me of the Comme Des Garcon clothes for H&M with fitted assymetric blazers and dhoti-slouch trousers. More in depth reviews in my column and clearer runway pics, as for now, verdict is, i like it, but you will just have to make do with blurry pics.

BURNING THE MIDNIGHT OIL

So, I went to the third show at the opening of fashion week. Only three designers there and err, lets just say that I'll post what I think later when I'm lucid and not running to meet deadlines. Believe it or not I'm still working now (at 3:48am) writing press release copies for a retail brand due tomorrow at 8am. My plan of having just a quick drink after the shows resulted into two shots of tequilla, 2 beers and a Vodka cranberry. (It's all issy's fault) well, maybe I think it helps a tad bit, i feel my mind unhinged, words flow more freely I reckon. So yeah, photos from the first day of fashion week will be posted later. THE BOMB

What would the international fashion weeks be without the Vogue editors? (take your pick be it team Wintour, Roitfield, Sozzani or Shulman) Its like the conundrum: Does a tree make a sound when it falls when there's no one there to hear it? In this case, can a designer be hyped without the support and that elusive nod of approval from the fashion powers that be? Photos could capture a dress but not the swish of the fabric, the way it moves with the model, and that first impact (with intake of breathe) of seeing a new design thats an innovation in fit, fabric, volume, proportions and finish. Because word is, (due to reasons beyond their control), editors from the number one fashion magazine in the country will be seating this Philippine Fashion Week out. The sadness! The front row will be a gaping hole without them. And the new designers hoping to get a break will utterly be dissapointed.

Supreme wanted Andre and I to both present the Fashion Force Award but my brother declined. Since he wasn't doing it I wasn't doing it as well.
